If you are just going to swap in a complete running engine then there is not a whole lot of tools needed. If you are getting a new block and want to use your current intake manifold and carb, altranator rats nest clutch setup, and stuff like that then you will need a few nore tools to swap all the parts. But if you are going to go that route you may as well just buy a rebuild kit and rebuild the engine yourself. If you want to just get a complete running engine from a junk yard it will be simple and fairly easy but you might not end up with anything better than what you have now so just becareful if you go that route.

Or just tackle the problems one at a time. None of your problems sounds all that difficult to fix. Especially if the engine is still good.

Thanks carl and erick. I was thinking about tackling all the problems one by one but that the problem that i have, most of the repairs the engine need to be out so digonostics would be a prob. am i way off here in felling like im fighting a losing battle by doing the repairs and mabey having to pull the engine muliti. times or creating more probs than its worth. thanks again for the responses.

Front cover. How bad and where is it cracked? More than likely you can remove it, clean it and take it to a competent shop to have it welded, or just replace it. Oh and a note on removing the cover. http://www.mazdatrix.com/faq/pulley.htm

Bad pilot bearing? Sure? Read this first
http://www.mazdatrix.com/g2.htm

Intake o-rings? Easy fix, just replace them. Theyre cheap. Or you can block the passages in the rotor housings with 20mm freeze plugs.

Vac leaks? Fix em one at a time. Find them first LOL.

A/C removal and oil cooler upgrade. Has no bearing on getting what you have in the engine compartment up to snuff. Good luck.
