Building my car to run FP auto-x, need help deciding what to do with my 12a (thinking

I'm gonna run this class, and am setting up my 12a engine. I am thinking of going going with a half-bridge set-up (mild street port on primaries, bridge on secondaries). I am trying to get the most power, while keeping a very usable powerband, and not losing everything down low. Has anyone else tried this, and if so, what is your experience with it. How does the car run/idle? How is the power delivery? I will be using a sterling carb and modified stock intake. The car will see very little street use, so streetability is really not a concern. I just don't want to kill the low end, as auto-x is all about accelerating out of the tight turns. Any opinions? Experience? Should I go a different route?

Thanks.

Is forced induction allowed in FP?

If so I'd get a supercharger. Any form of porting moves the power up higher.

No forced induction. Scrap the half bridge idea, b/c after doing more research, I have found it is not worth the hassle. Now I am thinking of doing more like a mosnter street port on the secondaries, and a more mild job on the primaries. Any suggestions?

Just a healthy street port all the way around I say. Actually **** it. How 'bout a full bridge and some 4.88 or 5.12 gears?

You can full j bridge and put short gears and a close ratio tranny in FP

Guess how I know

It'll also need lexan, fiberglass quarters, and slicks to win.

I'm thinking of a really healthy street port. I want to try to keep a little low end. I was lookinginto the lightweight stuff. I found some at ISC Racing. Anywhere else?

How big are the courses you'd run? I would be careful of the rear end gears because you might get caught between 2nd and 3rd...

I've been in a very nice Porsche 912 that did get into 3rd gear on auto-x, and was in the top 3 in his very competetive class. 3rd ain't always that bad.

no, i just meant that be careful choosing rear end gears for the type of course you usually run, because (especially running bridgeport) you might get stuck for too fast for 2nd and too slow for 3rd...

Do some math with tire diameter to move the speed you need into the engine powerband.
