Driving in traffic when out of no where my brakes go all the way to the floor with very (extremely limited) little actual braking.


Has the master cylinder gone bad?

No brake fluid?

Bad lines?

Air in the lines?

Not phased as I was going to have it checked out anyways before putting it on the road again this season.

 

Probably air in the lines. Bleed the brakes and see if that helps

Did you check to see if there is fluid in the master cylinder?

after checking for fluid, if you are low, add fluid. pump the brakes and check for brake fluid leaks on the lines, pooling on the inner rim (if drum brake equipped) and and look for droplets of brake fluid on the ground. if you have no leaks, inspect the area under the brake fluid resivour on the booster and look for peeling paint and or rusty areas. this indicates that the master cylinder's piston seal has failed and is leaking. if this is the case it will require a rebuild or replacement of the master cylinder.
