Question brake master cylinder

i need to replace my bmc...

can this be from any car any year?

or does it have to be specific?

It is model year specific. If you have an fb, you can see the various model years between 81-85 will be the same for 12a cars, and (IIRC) different for 13b SE's.

The models are different, it breaks out like this:

1. 79-
2. 80-
3. 81 thru 85 drum brakes
4. 81-83 disc
5. 84-85 disc

According to VB.
