As an alternative, how about something like this, if you're running power steering? No need for the booster can.

Or something like this:

Pricey, I know, but gets around your problem.
Going back to my original question, what about no booster at all? I know some older cars didn't have boosters.
If I got a '79 booster I would be using my 84 SE master, so they must be able to bolt up, that booster picture shows a completely different bolt pattern for bolting the master on, looks like a 4 bolt diamond pattern, if that is the correct picture then the '79 master will have to be used also, unless I can cut 2 of the master mounting bolts off and make it work like that.

ask me how i know (late model brakes onto an SA)... that was a ****** headache.
hopefully my experience will save you a headache. It can be done, but with a bunch of money and convoluted-ness in connectors and adapters.

for me all that really needs to be done is flare new fittings on at the master...

Ooops. The m/c uses the top and bottom studs, now that I think about it. It's the ones on the sides that aren't used with the later m/c. The mounting plate for the proportioning valve hits the unused stud on the one side. I worked around that by bending the plate a bit and I think I had to bend the hard line a little bit, but you could grind it down or cut it off.
