Removed my brake booster to paint it. Picked it up by the brass colored metal rod in the front center (circled red in pic below) which pulled completely out of the booster. It slides back in with a reassuringly firm feel…. But do I need to do more than slide it back in? Its brakes, so don’t want to find out the hard way.
Ha! That’s one of those details that is missing from the manual and only learned through experience. Like the shim washer behind the water pump that had coolant leaking from the gasket and me pulling hair from my head. For the booster, the manual diagram could be interpreted as showing that little disc… but certainly does not call it out.
I will reinstall the booster as it’s a quick job, and if I have the symptom described in the post I know what do do.
