Bouncing gsl-se idle
Finally came time to put fire to the 12year sleeping rx. Started and idle up to 4500rpm for a few minutes then slowly idle came down and as it was it was bouncing all the way to 1300-1600rpm and continued to bounce at those rpms. I had the intake off to clean the gummed up injectors could this bouncing be a vacuum leak or other common issue? Also is the 4500 cold start normal? This is a 85gsl-se for refrence. Temp gauge only ever got to the second mark closest to the cold mark.

Found I missed the vac line to the bypass air control valve pluged in and idles at 800 and my cold is now at 2500ish. Question now is on cold start it seems like I can only get it to start with a long crank and my foot on the floor. This normal starting or what?

cold start, the engine will idle at 2500rpm. this is part of the accelerated warmup process and is normal. it shoudl gradually drop as the engine warms up. the way that Mazda suggests you start the SE is to depress and release the gas pedal once and then start the engine. foot on the floor disables the fuel pump and indicates engine flooding due to leaking injectors or weak compression.
