Did you guys actually got non-GSL-SE's in 84-85? Everybody is always talking about GSL-SE suspension/brakes/lug pattern. But in the rest of the world, we didn't get GSL-SE's (North America only) Yet all our S3's got the suspension/brake/bolt pattern (and lug nuts)/ interior updates (except for RHD, they kept the old dash), just not the powersteering or 13B engine. We kept the old 12A. So I was wondering, your S3 cars, are they all GSL-SE? And if not, what did the non-GSL-SE cars come with?

The '84-5 non-GSL-SE (GSL and GS) cars still had dinky brakes and 4x110 with bolts rather than studs, like the earlier cars. The '84-5 cars had a slightly different strut, and a different outer wheel bearing on the front from earlier cars.
Interiors were updated for all '84-5 cars, and some minor exterior updates. There's a difference inthe mounting point of the lower rear control arms, too. Rearend has larger axles. buncha little differences, but the upshot is they updated all US 84-5s, but only the GSL-SEs got the bigger brakes and better bolt pattern.
