Boiling Water

Ok i got the tstat outta the car.... I put it in some hot water and it did open but not till the water was at a boil... which is 210 Degree F correct??? So could this be the reason why i am over heating or... so I explore other options?

Im no expert on that but that does make sense.... shouldn't these be running around 170-180??

and in accordance to your elevation, your boiling point would be at 211.1 F

It should have moved at about 180. So yea that is to high.

Also you have a thread open already why make a new one?

jsut replace it. the temp should be stamped on the thermo, and as well. that temp is not the fully open temp. its the tmpe at wich it STARTS to open. So try the test again, and see when it starts to open, as opposed to when its full y open.

Get the new type which only fail in the open position, will save you a blown engine if you don't see it in time next time.

160 degree

You may want to get a 160 degree thermostat as well as the Robertshaw failsafe type.
