body work

I got rear ended, and $550 from the sh$%-head's insurance company. There is a 1/2 inch space to fill between the body and the tail light. I've got latex foam that expands, latex in a tube, and that blue water pump sealer.

Also I got weather stripping which I am going to use to replace the rubber gaskets.

So what should I use to fill the1/2 gap? Should I just go with bondo, or that body putty that comes in a tube?

Can you provide a picture of the damage? It might be repairable depending on where and how bad it is.

the metal is bent 1/2 inch down and 1/2 inch in at the bottom corner of the tail light, 3 inches length wise

You got rear-ended and were given $550? Did you agree to that amount? The car should have gone to a shop to be repaired.

Post pics if you want some good advice, it's hard to imagine what really needs to be done.

The damage wasn't that bad, a professional body shop quoted me $600.

Before other insurance companies offerred to total the car out for $600.

Besides this car is an apartment parking lot rat. Miss matched pealing hood...but handles like a gem!! And it scares the crap out of the pretty car people with high insurance and car loan payments.

I once had a pretty cute little 914, it got vandalized everywhere.

if your going to do it the cheap *** way.....use a heavy body designed body seam sealer from a autobody supplier that can be applied to gaps larger than 1/4 inch. in my opinion...pull it out and repair will fiberglass reinforced body filler. post pics of damage like mentioned above
