Blowing fuse

Hey guys

My RX7 is blowing the 20A fuse for the engine whenever I start the car. This only started happening after I replaced the old alternator. Could that be the cause the only thing that stops working after the fuse is blown that I see is the alternator gauge and I have to rev the motor a bit to get the alternator to kick on.

Do I just need to put a 25A fuse in it and be done with it probably being a better alternator pushing more than the old or is there something that is more wrong that I should dig into?

Thanks

Something isn't right with the installation of the alternator or the alternator itself. Check your ground to the alternator install. If you need to, run a two foot battery cable from the big alt bolt to the drives side factory ground point on the strut tower. Run it from the backside where the nut goes on the bolt.

Whatever you do, do not put a bigger fuse in to correct electrical issues. This will just mask the issue and can cause other issues like burnt wires or components.

ok well I plugged in all the wires and attached the cable the same way the factory alt was attached. I will get a ground cable and see if that fixes the problem the next time I am at the auto store.
