Birmingham carbs

Has anyone heard of this brand. I found a pair on an 85 at a wrecking yard today. I took them, but I don't have the filters and I need a manifold for a 12 A. The manifold on the car would not come off (one rounded bolt), it was alos in very bad shape.

They are S U Carbs. They must have been made in Birmingham. Anyone have any info on these?

Hurley Motor Engineering in the UK sell conversion kits to fit twin SU's

Never had any experience of them on a rotary but have one on our MG rally car and a mate has two on his Austin B series Engine and one on his rally car AND one on an MG montego turbo ( 180+ bhp ) too ... never had any problems with them and they seem to be very simple to tune ( just regrinding the needle )

They do seem to get a bad press in the US though ??
