Big Tires In The Back, Small Tires In The Front

I have been looking at new tires for my 7. I have the 14" LE rims. I have been searching about what size tires I can go with, as I want to get as much rubber on the road as I can.

I notice alot of large number of people have large Tires in the Back, Small Tires In The Front. Whats the gain from this?

Also whats the largest tire I can safely go with on my LE?

Uh bigger tires out back means that you have more traction and can usually get more slip angle.

205/225 seems like a good width stagger. But anyway, unless youve done some serious modding, I wouldnt worry about tires too much. Its a light car and stock its not going to win many drag races.

Yeah, I just got a Streetported 12a, Im not putting down crazy amounts of HP. Plus it is mainly my DD most of the time.

Its just that I dont like the way the car looks with lil bitty tires on it, it just looks funny. It looks like yout rolling around on lil dimes for wheels. lol

With 205s you won't be rubbing the front fender.

With 225s in the back you won't be rubbing the quarter panel.

But with mixed tires you can't rotate to extend tire life.

IMHO, its an UGLY combination due to rim width VS tire size

why would you want larger tires in back than in front for DD purposes only? that'd just be weird looking and it would screw with your speedometer.

205s are stock on the SE 5.5" wide rim.

Are you talking about the difference between front and rear?

I thought 195/60/14 was the stock SE sizing...

Anyhoo, I run 185/60/13 in the front and 205/60/13 in the rear, mostly because that's the size my free R tires came in.

I don't know- for some reason, staggered tires strike me as a mullet head/ muscle car/ drag racing type thing. I know, I know, most newer sports cars have staggered tires, but I think same width tires front/ rear make the car look very balanced. I see same width tires, and I think 50/50 weight distribution and good handling.

Saying this, I just got some new (used) wheels and tires for my 7! 15x7 ROH snypers with nitto 205-50-15's. Man, they look like steamrollers compared to my puny 185-70-13's.

If it's your DD then you should stay with the same size all around for tire life. I think that a 195-60-14 would be decent for the LE rims you have and you could rotate them without any problems.

I run 195/55/14, but I was thinking of going up to 205 once these tires are ready to be replaced.

I'm just not sure if I am comfortable with the lack of room in the front with 205s. I could barely fit my pinky between the tire and suspension with a set of 205s on stock "+" wheels on an old car I had with stock suspension. With my car being lowered, I'm thinking it might rub...

Yokohama 008R. They're old as dirt but thanks to more than a few treatments with Formula V tire compound, they've got decent stick. The A032R and the A048R from Yoko still come in either 175/60/13 or 215/50/13, both of which will fit on our stock rims, though the 215's would be pretty ballooned.

Hope that helps!

205/50-15x7 inthe front and 225/50-15x7 in the reat. +7 offset all around. Rubbed bad until I rolled the fenders. Now it's fine... When you're running a S513BT streetport @10psi you need bigger tires for traction...
