big thud????

After I drive somewhere, I notice that after I park the car , if I m still in it, I hear a big "thud" or 2 that just completly vibrates the whole car. I wasnt moving or anything and it just made that big noise a couple of times. Also when I have the heater on, the clutch/tranny will make a grinding noise when i give it a little gas, but only if the heats on, any suggestions???

Do you have a thermal reactor? My 79 did that and it ended up being sort of like a backfire in the exhaust, but not enough to go bang if you get what i mean. Adjusted the timing and it went away.

Trans sounds bad to me.... If you rev it and it kinda grinds while reving?

I have had the thermal reactor removed and have racing beat headers. As far as the grinding goes, it only happens when i have the thermostat on the heat side of the temperature thing. The thud worries me most because there is really nothing back there but the rear end and back side of the tranny to go bad.
