big conversion gen 2 to gen 1 stuff

ok i just bought a wrecked gen 2 (looks like a ricer ran into the back of a truck all primer grey) anyway im taking the motor out and putting it in my gen 1 but the thermastat housing is messed up so can i take the front case off my 12a and put it on the 13b and i only have a S gen 1 so its rear drum which i hate i was going to take the rear diff front axle and disc brakes and the rack and pinnion from the gen 2 and ideas as to if its ever been done? and suggestions i have a lift and my dads shop to do the work in so i have all the tools i need

it has been done as far as the rack n pinion and yes you can put the 12a front cover on the 13 b in fact that is one of the most used ways to swap the motor but you will have to slot the bolt holes, as far as the brakes i dont know and i would say no since i have not read or heared of this you would have to swap axles and i think lengthen them do a search you will find what you want
