Exclamation BIG CARB PROB - HELP! i need to get home!

well im in the middle of no where, and i stop off at a gas station and try to turn my car back on and its idling real rought, so me and bro get out, try to tune the idle mixture, his phone rings and he stops my car by putting his hands over the intakes and gas comes out and it dies, i freak out, wont start now cuz its flooded, i inject ATF down the barrels of the DCO/SP weber i have on this, finally it strarts up and its smoking, but its running SO rough and vibratinga LITTLE bit, smoking of course , i know thats normal, but its been 20 mins of running and it stills runs like theres no power, the idle mixture screws make lil or no differnce wether turned all the way in or out, runs like theres no power??? WHAT HAPPENED! im writing this on my pda and im stuck here, i cant get back on the highway with it running like this, it would take me 20 min to get to 10mph!

Wish I could help. Don't know much about those carbs. Vac leak? Getting spark on the leading? Good luck.

If you had tools you could swap the leading and trailing ignitors....

Maybe check all ignition wiring?

As its already been suggested, verify that you have spark on the leading side. Maybe your plugs are just fouled, or maybe you lost the leading and that's why it flooded in the 1st place...

Plugs are new since you just flooded it? They don't have ATF on them?

Rev the **** out of it. I had a similar problem with flooding this morning. Revved it up to 6k for a good 3 mins before letting it back down. No problems after that. Then again that might just be me.

Its flooded from what you described. Kill the fuel pump and crank it till shes running keeping your foot OFF the gas, or open the throttle slowly and keep it floored till it starts and revs up, then connect the pump once shes idling ok and get her home. If your near me I'd come out and give a hand but Im not in a condition to drive right now.

You may have to rev it to keep it running and not stall from the extra fuel. If you have a regulator, back off the pressure, it might help you get home. Where you at anyway?

HOPE IT WORKS!

i made it home, its not knocking, its just a rough *** idle and when i throttle it , its very boggy and a totally differnt sound, and the idle mixture screws make no differnence at all.... just thought that was weird, hopefully its just totally flood and full of ATF

the carb was flooded, and there was too much ATF in it, had to keep it at 6k for a min or two and it leveled out, and my plugs where somethin nasty from all the ATF.

ill never inject ATF through the carb agin, allways put it in the plug holes to unflood.

i took my plugs out, disconnect the fuel pump, and cranked. then i put them back and she fired right up. could use new plugs, though.
