Best Turbo For stock to street ports for 12A

Which turbo would be best for stock to large street port?
draw through and blowthrough, most likely a blow through holly.

Thanks
Joe

For stock port running up to 16psi the stock turbo from a TII is a good size. I don't know much else though, since that's the only setup I've tried.

Don't even think about doing draw through, blow through is much better in every way.

for a stock port 12a use a s5 TII turbo.
for a street ported motor dont think of using anything with a t3. go with a TO4 series turbo like an E,R,B. also you may want to run a big a\r for less heat, but with a ptrim for quicker spool.

Straigt T04? that's a big turbo! Can the 12A sp really push that big of a turbine and still be drivable? I was thinking of going with a 14b off of a DSM... not very big but should be good for around 250 HP and spool up quickly. But i'm very new to Rotarys... so maybe i'm about to learn something

A 12A is 2.4l in piston engine terms so any stock turbo you might find on a four banger will usually be too small. Plus the strong rotary exhaust pulses are just made for spooling big turbos.

I wonder what size a TII turbo is??? I see that the Greddy upgrade for them is the 20-G, would the stock size be comparable to an 18-G then?

for greddy size talk, a TD05-16G is a good size turbo, an HKS GT3032 (although a 3238 or 40 is probably better) or T04S, an IHI VF3140(IIRC) is good, a Garret GT30R or t4/T4s(yes, T4/T4s), an APEX'i Isamu RX-6 turbo is good, although may be a bit too big...an i can't think any off my head...so, ect...

well, i'm going to be looking to the small end of the spectrum. Not too small, but still something that will spool up quickly, as the car will be used a lot for auto-x. I also will be looking for some junkyard turbos or something used, just for the sake(wth? sp?) of cost

Just to make sure we are speaking the same language...
the one on the right is a 14b off of a stock DSM, the one in the middle is the good ole' T3/T4 hybrid and the monster on the left is a TO4E...

if your worried about spool go with a s5 turbo, and take it to get modified to your specs. for street daily use. the porblem with the s5 ( almost like a t3) is that they are too small and cause heat issues. TO4's are great turbo's. and if your thinking of using a stock dsm turbo, those are even smaller than s5 turbos. turbos are good investments, but make sure your making the right investment, do it right the first time....go TO4

I agree. S5 turbo is definately the way to go if you don't want to spend much.

hiboost7, what heat issues are you talking about with the S5 turbo?

I'd go 60-1, .6 comp housing, p-trim turbine, .84 housing.

I was thinking of doing an s5 tII setup. Engine will be streetported, though, so TO4S is the way to go? Will there be much lag? How much psi can you boost on one?

Don't apologize dude, it's my thread.

I though it needed smaller vents, because you can't stomp it below 3500, but from what
I hear that's normal for a weber.
It probably does need smaller idle jets, (1100 idle).
Other than that the carb screams it's damn close as brand new as you get, I also I have a spare set of gaskets you can have with it.
