Best radiator cleaners...

I have the radiator out and drained. What is the best thing I can clean it with. I've read all kinds of things about different acids and toilet cleaners working. Just want to know what you all hae had the best luck with. And again the radiator is off the car so I can't run a cleaner to heat it up for several hours or anything.

Thanks...

Why not put it back in and clean the entire cooling system? If the engine is down for a rebuild, take the radiator to a radiator shop and let them clean it out. Shouldn't cost much and when you get it back you will know it is good.

I agree w/trichoid. A good rad shop is the way to go. They will tank-dunk it and pressure test it for leaks. Might want to get them NOT to re-paint it if you are fussy about the finished look. The dunking pulls off the old paint and they usually do a pretty Q&D (Quick&Dirty) respray. If you DO decide to repaint yourself just remember that the FINS need a special, thin-spray rad paint. Regular spray paint will clog between the fins (bad). Eastwood sells proper rad spray paint.
