The best is what looks good to you.

I do like a smaller wheel however. I am 6ft and at 200LBS there is not a lot of room between the steering wheel and seat.

Hoping to see some pictures of other first gen set ups to help make the decision.......

I think a good wood momo would look great.......with a shift know and brake handle.......

I have the same problem here too, 6'3" and 250lbs, I'm either bumping my head off of the sunroof surround or having to stretch to reach the top of the steering wheel and shifter in 5th. Not to mention my legs are always hitting the stock steering wheel. I'd like to get a smaller wheel that has the D shape to it (flat spot on bottom). Usually an aftermarket wheel plus adapter moves the wheel towards the seat an inch or two so I'm hoping that will help with seating position Someone here on the forum mentioned the 1st gen Miata wheels fit and look nice in the interior.

I was under that impression too alien, but I just put my momo in and it didn't move closer a damn bit, I'm kinda pissed about it. The diameter is smaller so it helps with leg room, but I still can't get my damn knees under the wheel, what a pita. oh yea btw I'm 6'-3" ~200lbs
Heres a few pics of it installed, looks cool if nothing else
