Best carb setup for a S4 6 Port??
Well I was thinking about blocking it off as you suggested, but I was unsure of the pro/cons. Obviously having to pour oil in every fill up is a bit of a pain, but besides that is there any difference in lubrication? Does the OMP do a better job lubricating than pre-mixing? Little off topic but i've been wondering about this.
Also i've herd that the ports on the RE motor are larger than any other 2 rotor, is this true? If I did go FI, has anyone had success with Megasquirt?
Thanks for all the great info guys!

!!! HOLLEY!!!
1. More Power
2. More “Driveability”
3. Less cost
Infact TWM who makes and sells Dellorto/ Weber style ITB’s conducted their own independent test (on a 6 port 13b rotary motor of all things). The facts speak for them self, HOLLEY. The article name is “Carburetor VS. Fuel Injected”
A Haltech run ITB made only 2 more HP than a simple old Holley. Of course if you want that 2 hp you can buy an $800 dollar ITB and a $2000 dollar Haltech unit to control it.
Please remember this does NOT mean that many of us my self included have not seen great results with other carbs, but the best one for a Rotary is the Holley.
As many of you guys are “show me” types here goes:

It's not OK that you're an idiot, and you should really try to change that.

Sorry, Latin, but everyone thinks their setup is "da bomb"...until they experience a better one. Nobody wants to admit they blew money on a sub-par system.
But guess what....?

what i've herd about holley's is that they have problems on the track in extreme conditions. With fuel sloshing around during cornering. I need to be able to beat on it at the track and drive home so I don't want any issues with starvation.

I'm going based on pure 1st hand knowledge, not what "he said or she said" or even hearsay. I've already used in the past both the Weber 45 dcoe and a Weber 48ida, Mikuni 44 and Dellorto sidedrafts and yes even a RB 465cfm. Of course each carb set up was for a specific motor ie: 12a sp, 12a large street ports, street ported 4port13b, 6 port 13b's etc. Again for me the Holley always stands out as the most econimical and easiest to tune carb on the market....and I dont meab RB Holleys. Just for the record I dont race on a course so I have no knowledge of that type of set-up.
My flaming time!!! lol
My thoughts on the best for power, is the person tuning/working on the car, theres alot more to that extra 5hp than just the intake/exhaust. Ive heard that the holley is a little harder/takes longer to tune though, and some stuff is cast in place, not sure about the other downdrafts or what exactly cant be changed. And like Sterling (sorry I mispelled your name b4) said, everyone is gonna like their setup, and should! I take pride in all.. most of the the stuff that is on my car. Heck if I had 8 one barrel motorcycle carbs on my car, and it was the biggest pain in the butt to tune/work on... Id look at all of you 1-2 carb guys and say more is better

When it comes to fuel injection, in general it will be about double the cost of a carb setup. This is from what I have found in researching the matter. Is it easier to tune, mabey. Does it run better, yes. Is it more reliable, mabey. Comparing a perfect fuel injection setup to a perfect carb setup, the fuel injection will make MABEY 10-15hp more. That that extra power comes at a cost. Say your perfect carb setup cost you $1000, your fuel injection setup cost $2000. Is an extra 10-15hp worth $1000? To some mabey, but for me, no. A properly tuned carb setup will be almost as easily driven as a good fuel injection setup. And cold weather startups, if you have a choke then its no problem.
so if someone wanted to go with a holley setup for a 6 port SP, which carb would be best? I am assuming that it would be a 600CFM with mech secondary and choke, but I have no experience with carbs
model 0-4777C has mech secondaries, is double pumper, and center hung float bowls, it would be perfect except it does not have 4 corner idle, nothing below a 750 cfm seems to have that. If all it would do is make the idle rough, I say bring it on, I like a lopy idle anyway. Has anyone used an Edelbrock? They have a 650 AVS carb that I saw for sale on ebay once, It looked nice anyway.
well looks like ive been doing something wrong all these years boosting through carbs, LOL
carbs work fine for boost buddy, welcome to reality

Actually he was saying that the newer cars don't have pop-ups and carbs because those people designing and buying the newer cars have no taste, not that carbs and pop-ups are tasteless. I love both, and theres nothing wrong with my taste as far as I know.
Go with the thunder series, extremely tunable and much more reliable than a holley. http://media.putfile.com/bridgeported-supercharged-13b
I hear a lot of people saying that holleys are unreliable for daily drivers, and have never heard anyone say why. just curious about what the differences are with those carbs and the holleys other than the fact that they are different carbs....like does it loose fuel in hard corners and hard to start that sort of thing. reliablility is important, its okay if it takes a few minutes to start, but its got to start eventually, that is the important part. Also, does an eldelbrock carb fit a holley flange?
Sorry to get peoples defences on another topic lol.
