Hey fellas.

Im gettiing my 85 sprayed soon and i have a couple of colours in mind, id really like a dark metalic grey with a set of gold wheels. But cant make up my mind.

Im taking all suggestions on what colour looks best on these 1st gens? Pics are most welcome

Silver FTW

 

White with some blue flake mixed into the paint. Gives it a very slight tint that looks just right under the sun. You could also try silver mixed in, instead of blue.

My personal input. Don't do gold wheels. Black, silver, or perhaps polished.

 

Not a fan of the gold wheels hey? any particular reason?

yeah ive checked the forum for similar threads but just wanted to see if anyone has come up with something recently.

Only color car that gold wheels may look decent on would be Black. To me Gold has that "Bling' look and I just don't care for it.

 

agreed, the car has a "show car" future so bling might be ok for show. It will have the ***** to back it up

 

Well the best color for any RX7 is white!!! I love white

 

I dunno, I'm kinda biased towards a red car, with black/ polished lip wheels.

Here's gray again with some other choices......yea, I'm showing off since we're posting pics......it's late and I'm delirious from 16 hours of work and only 6 hours of sleep. Good thing I'm not a drinkin' man anymore.

I don't have a favorite, but I do have some dislikes. I don't like brown on the outside and burgandy on the inside.

 

keep em comin.......... this is good stuff and yeah i agree white is classic

dont know what colour this is but its pretty close to what i want.

 

Black works for me. Tuff to keep clean but worth it!

Also this is an example of the combo im looking for with dark Grey with gold wheels, although the wheels would be a different style, those flared guards look crazy

I love this color(not mines), was planning todo it this color, but now alittle undecided

 

I'm defffinitely into silver. I think it's one of the best looking colors on a first gen. White was to "safe" for me. Black is very "hard", although I can paint it. Red will always belong on true sports cars like 7's, but was alittle agressive for what I was going for. Blue is awesome, but silver just fit my project and personality best. Jus like everyone says, it's really up to you. I believe when it comes down to it though. As long as it is a nice paint job, these little cars will always look sweet regardless of color, even if it is brown.

 

In order of hotness:
1:Black
2:Tornado Silver Metallic
3:Formula White
If you go with a lighter color, leave the black trim. I think the contrast looks very nice. I think gold wheels would look great with the right shade of red.

 

HMM i like tender blue, tornado silver,black, and white. I think that 1st gens look best in those colors.
