I use a red-top on my car and am very glad that I chose this battery. In the summertime here, underhood temps get so high that you find yourself adding water to the battery very frequently which usually means that they get a layer of lead sulfide at the bottom which quickly shorts out the plates. Optima batteries with their gel electrolyte and wrapped design never need maintenance and subsequently last the full 4-5 years instead of replacing every year.

Do yourself a favor and spend the money on an Optima - red top for normal use and yellow-top for duration (aftermarket stereo that's on for shows, etc.). HTH,

I think they're selling for around $100 at your local parts house, but if you're in the USA, you can usually get these for about $80 through CostCo brand stores.

They come with a prorated warranty which ensures that you'll get good service life out of them. They're expensive, but you'll never have to mess around with your battery anymore; that's worth the money in my book. HTH,

do you think the yellow top would be ok for a street car without major *boom boom * speakers or would it just be overkill?
