balance weight assembly

Recently, I decided to do a rebuild on my 12A, and apparently during the course of it, I lost a piece essential to the reassembly of the balance weight/bearing housing assembly. Looking at the (low-quality, sorry!) picture, it is number 8, and apparently is called the 'thrust plate'. Anyway, whatever it's called, I don't have it anymore . All of my parts cars have either been sold or crushed, all without me knowing until weeks later, so I am really stuck as none of the retailers sell them. Does anybody know the dimensions to make one, or does anybody happen to have a spare lying around that they would mail to me?

Thanks.

Mazda dealership, mazdatrix should both have them. I might even have one lying around.

Its basically a big washer.

The only thing I don't know (but i bet Jeff20B does) is if they differed between years of engines because other parts did.

Thanks. I will look into that. I might almost be able to come up with a 'big washer' that could fit.
Does it have to be the perfect size, or is it good enough to just find one that works well enough?

Thrust plate has a hardened surface for the thrust bearing to ride on and a bevel to fit the eccentric shaft. Do not use just a washer! Most people who rebuild engines have a bunch of them. Make sure the surface is smooth and has not been burnt from a thrust bearing failure.

I might have a spare somewhere. Any rebuilder (Mazdatrix, Pineapple, etc.) will have them available new or used. You can also contact someone who is parting an engine. A regular washer is not going to cut it. Get the correct part.

they are the same from 74 (at least!) to 91, and they dont wear out, so anyone who rebuilds these things has extras.

its prolly $5 at the dealership too
