Bad "dizzy" or belts.. pleas help me! She wont run!

Ok, the car wont start, when i jump her she runs fine until i stop, and then everything lit goes off or very dim. When i Rev it, it works fine. I know i have belts that need to be replaced, so this week i am putting her in the shop at my school (I WILL BE WORKING ON HER, no one else w/o me) but what do i need, and i need it asap, as of i will be driving my summer 1954 nash in the meantime which hates rain.

To me, i need a alternator or sumthin, and new belts. Im going to remove the rat's nest since shell be in the shop also. I need a printer friendly version though... and i dont have spare cash....

Alternator- If the dizzy was bad, I doubt she'd run 'fine' when you roll start her.

It Has to be the alternator, why else would the lights dim if it wasnt? The Dizzy wouldnt do that....you would have no get up and go if it was just the dizzy.

could be a bad ground, most likely it's your alternator. Have it rebuilt instead of buying a "remanufactured" one. Save yourself some $$$

Send an email in lieu of donation, and if you are sincere, we'll hook you up. Of course, it could be argued that if you have the printer ink, you can afford the donation, but only I'm that big of a dick - Carl's a sweetheart

ok. lets get to the problem. first off, what have you done to try to shoot flames? could that have done something ? i know you were talking about another coil to a plug, retrace what you did at first. then, check and make sure your belts are tight. jump it , take it to auto zone, or shucks and have them check your alt. and battery. especially the battery. they will do it for free. cause you said you can jump it and it runs fine until you stop. but when you rev it it runs fine. so check the belts and the battery after you retrace your wild fling of shooting flames. good luck.
