backfires on command

If I rev my car up to about 4 grand and let off the gas, it will backfire every time. Is this causing any damage? Sould I expect some time to blow my exhaust off the car?

If you have a Racing Beat exhaust, the welds on those things can stand up to a direct nuclear attack. Fire away!

If you don't have a Racing Beat exhaust, wait till this one eventually explodes, then install one. Avoid the local constable while running with a blown apart exhaust, muffler baffles hanging on the ground and all.

to avoid the backfiring, the purpose of the Air Control Valve is to reduce or cut out the backfiring. You may need to replace it...

My GSL-SE with a Rotary Engineering header and exhaust backfired for years. It turned out to be the Throttle position Sensor. I adjusted it and no backfires since.

This is the thread on how to adjust it. Very easy.

i'm running my 6 port street port with a holley setup, and before friday it would pop all the friggin time, give it too much gas, pop, decelerate, pop, change gears pop... then i hooked up trailing ignition, and i'll be damned if i can even get it to pop on deceleration... i had an issue where my pulley was put on 180 degrees off, so i was 180 out, so i could only run leading ignition(which i had to run L1 on the L2 plug and vice versa)... went out friday and fixed that and now i don't backfire but i have power all the way to redline lol
