axle question

Ok, I'm pretty sure I know the answer on this, but I just wanna confirm something. Are all the axles the same on all S3 non SE cars? I think they are, but I wanna make sure, cause the ones in this 84 GSL rear I got are bent and I'm getting tired of the vibration (not to mention the funky rear brakes) and finding a S/GS parts car will be easier than a GSL parts car. Also, just a matter of curiosity, are there any companies that make aftermarket axles that are lighter and/or stronger?

goddamit, finding another set is gonna blow. I guess they've been bent since the start, but the bearings made so much noise its hard to say for sure. In order to change the bearings the old ones had to be torched off, I wonder if the heat tweaked them a little bit. argh.

What make it worse is the '84-85 GSL/GSL-SE have larger axle bearings than the '81-83 GSL cars.

FYI, I found when racing in Pro7 it was cheaper to run the '81-83 (smaller bearings) front and rear axle parts cause of they were older and 1 extra year of production.
