all i need to know
if swaping a auto tran.
to a manual is
at all hard
for a 85 gsl

Having a complete car to pull everything from, makes it much easier.
Tip, since you have an 85, you will need the driveshaft as well. The 4 speed auto is longer than the 5 speed stick.
