Attempt at seat covers..
I was wondering if anyone has tried to recover their original seats..either with the premade covers or thier own. Since I havent found the seats I eventually want in the car and the covers on ebay were like $500, I decided to sew up a temp solution. I borrowed a sewing machine for the weekend, but never having used one I wasted a bunch of time figuring out how to thread it and what all the buttons do etc. and so wasn't able to finish before giving it back. That's why there are still some saggy parts but overall I'd say its an improvement.

I'm curious how other's have turned out so post pics if you have some, thanks.

Damn fine job for a first attept. I suspect some of the wrinkling is due to the foam not filling the covers out as much as the original foam did. For the seats to look right, the foam and covers need to be nearly exact as the originals, otherwise they can take a bit of tweaking to snug up.
I bailed on redoing the seats on a Z I have been working for a couple of years, labor only was 450 for the 2 seats, they are much more complicated than the 7 seats. When I find the fabric I want for the widebody, I will be redoing mine myself, the 1st gen seats are a good starter seat for the inexperienced.

Don't suppose you made patterns for those badboys? Looks like it'd be worth trying, but I need my seats for driving and such, can't really take them out

You could also swap seats from a 2nd gen or miata if wanted a cheap upgrade

I put some soft cottony stuff I found laying around under the center sections too. The regular vinyl stuff was only $6 but didnt stretch as much which may have been better since the first time I put it on it was really loose and I had to go back and sew everything closer:

Wow, you did a fantastic job for your first attempt!
Local upholsterer quoted 250 - 300 per seat. If you do it again with some contrasting colors/materials, that might look even sharper.
