Yes I coverted when I did my rebuild A lot of people say the r12 is alot colder, but I find that R134 is as cold and maybe colder. Plus its not 28.99 a pound, and you can put it in yourself. I bought a kit at my local auto parts store for like 35 bucks I think. It comes with everything you need.

Airflow is my life
Its not that great. I did alot of reading on this. And I did a short stint as an A/C tech. Its not nearly as cold. Seems that the conversion works best on cars that had an oversized condensor which ours dont. The pressures 134 runs is scary too. My car runs about 350psi head pressure IIRC. R-12 is around 150psi. There are alternatives to R-12 that drop in, no effort required and you dont need a license to buy. Freeze 12 is one that I remember. Do some looking on the net, youll get quite an education.

i mixed r134a into my 83' rx-7's a/c system that probably had some r12 left in it, i'm pretty sure the pressure switch prevents the a/c compressor from turning if the pressure is too low or too high so i don't see how any damage could be done, but idk. btw, it wasn't very cold so i didn't really use it much.
