Question Anyone tell me if this is my dimmer switch and how to fix it?

HI,

I have a 1985 Mazda RX-7 and i have a problem. I try to turn the headlights on and when i turn the switch, the running lights work and the headlights pop up and all, but the headlights dont turn on. I know its not a fuse because if i hold, the lights switch back the lights turn on. I think that it is the dimmer switch that is the problem, but i'm not sure. If anyone could please tell me whats up and how to fix it, please e-mail me. kyle_alger@hotmail.com. If i need a new dimmer switch, then i will be looking for one if anyone has one for sale. Thanks again.

You said you pulled back on the headlight stalk and produced what should be your high-beams. If that's the case, then both (oddly enough) low beams on the car are out. You probably just need to get new headlights and that's it. A dimmer switch would not be causing a headlight problem. These aren't British cars.

And, welcome to the Forum! You'll enjoy your Rex everytime you climb in it.

You probably need to clean the contacts in the switch. There is a thread in the archives detailing this proceedure.
