Anyone replaced the F&R wheels bearings yet?

Ok, about to do a job and want to know if I am gonna run into any problems.
Want to replace all the wheel Bearings and seals Front and rear before I put on my new cross drilled/slotted rotors.

Shows the front bearings are 15.00 each and the seal is 3.00
The rear shows one bearing 25.00 and the seal 5.00

Will there be anything else I might need? I have a bearing packer and grease.
I bought redline fliud to change my rear diff when I am done.

Will the rear be a pain? or as easy as the front?

Thanks
Chad

The rear you have to pull the axle, Cut the bearing off and have the new one pressed on.

Fronts are easy. Pop the seal out. pull out the rear bearing, put in the new one. tap the new seal in. the small bearing comes out when you take the nut off.

A little more complex -

The process is basically as mentioned above, but what was left out is that without some idea what you are doing and some specific tools the job will be a PITA for you. Having the right drift, an old bearing race ground down on the outside, and a cheap set of bearing drivers makes it much better on the front. The rear requires hydraulic press which is too expensive to buy just for the occasional bearing job. Fronts are easy, once you know how and have the basic tools.

Since he has new rotors, I would think the races would not need to be changed for the fronts. Had the rotors not been new, I would agree that those races would need to be replaced.

machine shop or Pep Boys Garage (they did mine) can handle removing the old brearing. Car Parts, Auto Zone....and others lend out axle pullers for free.

For the fronts, check the bearing race for blueing and wear, the bearing race might need replacement too. Easy to do, just pound them out from the other side.

Check the front bearing play a week afterwards with the disk brake pads removed.

My GSL-SE

As for the fronts, that will be a walk in the park. Done front on many of cars even front wheel drive.

As for the backs, this is what I am concerned with. The car has 170k on the tranny, rear end and I assume the rear bearings. Everything else has been replaced. And since I don't know for sure if the rear has been done I want to do it.
A local person in the club (Garfinkle) has a huge press in his garage. I am sure he could do it if he has the time.
Also forgot, new SS brake lines will be added and maybe a new fuel pump if I can find one I like.

So is there anything else I should do while I'm in it?
And would time allow to do two GSL-SE's in the same day?

Thanks for the help

Yes, it should not take that long to do 2 cars, especially if you have the space and equipment to to have them both apart at the same.
If you have to do them one at a time, it will take slightly less time to do the second car, as you already know the exact proceedure and tools needed.
