Just wondering if anyone is making copies or could make copies of the mariah mode 1 fender flares... i'm looking to buy some but don't want to pay $300 a piece i'm thinking more around $100 a piece. I'm not looking to buy them anytime soon, just wondering how available i'd be able to get knock offs.

at $300 apiece, you're paying for the material and careful hand layup of fibreglass.

At $100 apiece you're likely to get uneven resin and not-so-careful hand layup (time is money, and $100 doesn't leave a lot of, well, time)

The other problem is if you do a knock off, you could get in trouble doing that. What you would have to do is modify the existing ones(to make them different), then make a mold, and then produce your new part. A mold of that size(which isnt that big) will generally run around $1000.00 to make(that is mainly labor). You have to recoupe some of that cost back in your parts. If I were to make fenders(at this point I am not) you would be in the $200-250 range plus shipping plus the crates that would have to be made so they dont get crushed.

"Japco" I have to tell you though, I would only recommend these parts for racing purposes....they are thin, not perfect, and really disposable for the racers. Also, I am not knocking his parts, I have owned a set of his fenders....there is nothing wrong for what they are built for.

 

I basicly only want the molds because i'm going to have to modify them to go with my front and rear bumper anyway...that's why i want knock-offs.

 

The ones on japco are what i'm looking for i just don't like the rear flares but the front are exactly what i want...thanks! maybe if you're into fiberglassing you could make a knock off of the front ones and mold in the bottom half of of the rear ones since you said you've made knock offs? i don't want them anytime soon, just gathering ideas my fenders are in pretty poor shape and my front bumper looks terrible without flares.

When I Installed my Mariah mode 1 on my car, Id have to give them 6 out of 7 for fitment. And probally a 7 for workmanship, thers a lot to be desired with their kit. Like for one they could have put mounting holes in the fenders so I didnt have to guess. Also the body lines are wrong in some places. and I have did enough body work Im sure its not me. Like the lines on the door etc line up at top and bottom, but the moulding indentation in the kit is maybe 1/8 in off... Theres a few other things I didnt like about the kit too.
