anyone made a early 13b engine injected

Hey people i have just got my wife a project car a s1 first gen and it has a 13b carby engine in it. Has anyone converted one of these to a injected engine?
if so how did you do it just run a adaptor plate to the engine and put a fc intake or how?
Thanks

The only and earliest 13b that mazda made fuel injected on our side of the world was the gsl-se in 1984-1985. It is a 6 port motor and the injection off of it will not be compatable with your earlier 12a. I see you are from Aus...didn't you guys get six port 12a's...not sure what they came in or what they are compatable with, but might be worth a look. We never got such a gem. In addition there was a 12a turbo that was injected in japan, but I don't know if Austrailia got that one either.

If you are interested in going turbo with your 12a and being injected, you have an option. Tweak It Aus makes an intake adapter plate for the 13b T2 intake manifold to bolt on. You could install you injectors in the top of the adapter with a custom fabbed up rail of some kind of course. A stock 13b T2 computer will get you started, but you will prob want some kind of stand alone engine management at some point for better tuning. 12a turbo manifolds are available on their own as well as custom ones made from scratch.

There is a big population of 12a tubo guys on this forum. They can certainly help you out if this is what you decide to do. Good Luck!

Have a look at this:

You'll still need an engine management system. You could try Megasquirt if you're looking for something more DIY or go with one of the other major brands.

two ways.

hard; rebuild engine with 12A turbo/GSL-SE/RE-Si center iron, these have injector bungs, but are otherwise basically the same as the normal 74-83 center irons.

expensive; buy an IDA style throttle body and IDA intake.

Could you just weld 2 more injector bungs in the fc intake?

I always thought it would be interesting to try adding some injector bungs to the primary runners of the stock intake manifold and using the carb as a throttle body.
