Anyone know what K&N filter this is?

I saw a RX7 that had a not so standard K&N filter. Basically the difference was that it was a dome instead of a circle and the top of the blue lid of the carb was cut out and then sealed around the filter. I want to get this, I think it will provide a lot better airflow but I dont know the part number.. Does anyone know what filter this is?

Thanks.

Here's my $0.02

Sure, the K&N top filter will increase flow some, but it will be all hot air since the hot air stays at the top of the engine compartment. If you had cowl induction, louvers or something to dissipate that heat, then yes, it would be good, but if you are wanting to get more air in, then your best bet would be to do a cold air intake... plenty of write-ups on it, but the best one I found was on www.mazspeed.com look at the facts section... you'll find lots of great info there.

Not pretty enough eeh? You could put some stickers on it and maybe some chrome door edging. Yeah, that's the ticket. bling bling. Plus the stickers, if placed properly can add up to 40 rwhp.

bla bla bla.. I personally try to stay away from the $5 at home depot look on my cars. I like to keep them as clean as possible.

Ya if you do a cold air right it can look very nice. I am in the middle of designing one, complete with a new air filter canister and a redsigned rad mount, with smooth walled alluminum pipe to run the air throuhg.

When I get if fabed I will post lots of pics of the individual parts as well as the installed set up.

Any way that filter sounds like a pritty home brew set up to me. I think one of the after market carbs has a foam filter like that

Check Mazdatrix??
