As far as I know they're meant to either run with a cat that's in good condition, or be run with a pre-silencer. It would be pretty loud otherwise

that statement is true some what...

1. In order to Run with a cat the cat it's self a to be in good condition to receive optimal flow!!
a)But he/she would only run with a cat for two reason's!
1. for it to be somewhat quiet
2. Or not to be bothered by the cops because his/her smog equipment is missing
2. Run with a pre-silencer to again quiet the car...
3. Or run with no cats
a)at this point...
1. the loudness of the car is only going to depend on one things
2. the size of your pipes true dual's or single and the size of the pipes

compared to magnaflow, its much quieter. I can rattle change in cars next to me with my magnaflow but i ran the racing beat for a couple days and i could hardly hear comparatively.

player you don't sound too sure as to what you want to do...so stay on the safe side and do the following...

1. header
2. muffler
3. true dual 2.25 with silencers and your golden...

I just bought and installed the RB streetport exhaust system its much quiter . It replaced the true duels with a 3" dynamax blow thru muffler I had on the car when it was a race only car. I allready had the RB dual race header on the car. It isn't a cheap system but is bolt on except for having to remove the heat shielding. I also have a Gforce Engineering Panhard bar on the car and I did manage to get it up and over the rear axle anyway.

Im not a huge a fan of the the true dual 2.25...I normally just tell that to people that know what they want, or want street quiet worth system...I'm all about maxing the system out....

If it was choice it would have been 3inch from the header back under the axle in to some kind of three muffler...It's how me and my brother fab up all the exhausts we do

Are you bumping for more info or about his exhaust system. If about his exhaust system then PM him.

The info you asked for has been provided and advice given.

Questions/recommendations were posted asking what you hope to accomplish and you just keep bumping it........

Racing beat mufflers are basically the quietest aftermarket mufflers on the market that have been proven to have some effect on performance as well. The exhaust note is nice as well. The universal is most often used for custom applications where the exhaust cant go/fit in the stock location IIRC. More effort will be required to install it as well.

I cleaned up this thread since this is not the WTB/FS section. My understanding is that the RB Uni muffler is straight through and will not be nearly as quiet as their normal power pulse mufflers. You should give them a call and find out.

You would probably be happiest with the normal power pulse muffler for your car. Find one used, and it will be about the same price as the universal muffler and be much quieter too.
