According to the FSM:

45MM offset with a 5 1/2 wide wheel

I know the preferred offset. I am looking for the backspacing on the stock SE wheel (measurement of the back of the mounting surface to the lip of the wheel).

The Math:

Take the offset of 45MM. Multiply it by .03937 to convert to imperial = 1.771"
Take the wheel width and divide it by 2 to get half of the wheel = 2.750"
Add half the wheel to the offset to get backspace = 4.521"

Factory service manual said 45mm .... found here -> http://www.wankel.net/~krwright/cars/rx7/manuals.html

and per 13BT_RX3's post a 7" with 25mm would only be 1mm difference at the backside of the wheel from stock.
