Anyone had shipping experience from Japan

I would like to know what it takes to ship some car parts from Japan to the US here, such as wheels, air dam, turbo kits....

Thanks

It's expensive and more of a hassle. I bought some rims from there off ebay and he charged me $250 for shipping!! I'm sure the actual cost was around $150 or so. But when it go to the port the shipping co. had me fill out this form. Don't say it's car parts are you might have to get it D.O.T. approved. Just say it's for display only or an art piece.

I have a military friend that picks the parts up from my japanese friend and send them to me. Airdams are to big for him to send. It cost about 80.00 for me to get 4 14 inch wheels sent from Tokyo to Maryland. I got a price quote from fed ex of over 700.00 to have the wheels shipped directly from my japanese friends shop.

Are your friends in Japan, United States military if so they can use the base post office. Almost the same as shipping from California price wise. Just dont make it a business oppertunity. The military postal service will get the military member in trouble for that. There is also a size and weigth limit 70 linear inches and 70 lbs. You could get a turbo kit but its going to be heavy. I had two checked bags when I came back from my vacation in Japan one had my turbo kit in it at 66 lbs.

The next stuff I have coming over will be a HKS BOV and two gauges for my 7.

My system is

1. Japanese friend bids on the auction and gets item
2. Military friend picks it up and ships it to me.

Only thing that kinda bad it it usually takes about 1~2 monthes for me to get the stuff. But patience is a virtue and I'm assembling a pretty good one of a kind 1st gen.
