anyone ever mount thier oilpan backwards?
yaa i know it sounds crazy, but im running a 12a on a fc subfram in my fb,, so because im welding up a custom engine mount to mount it, i wanted to put the engine lower in the car for lower roll center.. my problem is that the 12a oilpan im using will hit if i lower it,, right on the front, and i know that if i turn it around ill have all the space in the world...
i already know there are 2 problems with this,
1 ill have to redrill the holes because the pattern isnt exactly the same front to back,,,
2 ill have to make a custom oil pickup wich will be longer and dips further back, these arent too hard for me to do, but are there any other problems i might face, has anyone does this,,
am i better off going all out and making a cusom aluminum pan with baffles, cross braces and the works,,
will the fc pan fit an 12a, even, (allong with the corresponding pickup,,,
if you have pics of custom pans can someone show me pics?
thanks
Paul

actually turning the pan around is really common for putting a 13b with a gsl-se pan into the older cars.
as for mounting it backwards, maybe not on the first date

its supposed to do that
i modified the 12a pickup on my 12a to 13b swap and just cut up the 13b pan and welded in new sheetmetal to shape it to fit in my 12a chassis fb.
that makes sense right?

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
Only custom pan I've seen was an aluminum setup for a 20B a guy here in town was doing.
You might try a 13B pickup... they're pretty long, and you might just have to cut it and weld in a splice rather than bend a new one up.
