I'm running the mallory comp 70 with a holley 1-4 psi regulator.

Its a little expensive but it is very quiet and seems to keep up with my 13b street port.

If money was an issue i'd use the carter, they seem to be very popular.

I had the same problem on a large street port 12a . I solved the problem with a larger needle valve. you need no smaller than a 2.0 I also ran a larger fuel line to the pump and ran the pressure higher than sugested. you will need to play with the fuel pressure to find the right spot. It will be higher than 4.25 and lower than 6lbs. mine was a repetable drop just after the shift to 3rd till I got it right. its been a while since I had that set up but I think my pressure setting was around 5 1/2lbs.

Thanks to all for the info.

So, kuhlrx7, was it enough carb for your large street port 12A ? I never got anybody to say if it is sufficient, marginal or insufficient for my application ( ported 13B 4port ).

I would say sufficient. based on my experance. if you went to a larger port you would want to go up in size though.
