Wink Yep

Me: 1985 GS.

1989-1997
11B-Recon Scout with the 101st Airborne in Desert Storm.

11B2V-Airborne Ranger, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Battalion and Regimental Recon, 75th Ranger Regiment, including Task Force Ranger, Somolia 1993.

18B, SF Weapons SGT, 5th SFG, which put me right back in the Gulf. Got sick of it and had myself reassigned back to the Regiment.

1997, got out happily....father was dying and my baby girl was on the way. Haven't looked back, even when they tried to recall me for the latest unpleasantness. Left it all behind me, but its nice to be remembered once a year. Here's to us and those like us....damn few left.

Rangers lead the way!

Wow. Happy Veterans Day to you guys. I saw a sign at a body shop that I liked. It was one of those reader boards that you can put what you want on it. It said "America, Land Of The Free Because Of The Brave. Happy Veterans Day". Thanks for doing what you guys do, thats for sure.

Parachute Rigger ... I figured if I ever screwed up, the guy wasn't going to come back and complain about it to me

To all the vets, particulary those that served in a war (especially Veitnam as those guys were treated so unfairly not only by having to be over there and not really supported by our government as they should have been, but also as they were treated soooooo unfairly upon their return to the States) a big thank you!

It's so wierd. When I joined the Canadian Forces, people would make fun of me when I was out in my uniform and MacLean's magazine seemed to have a new "why our military is a pack of mysogynist psychos" story (and I emphisize story, versus fact-based report).

At least now the media is discussing how grossly underfunded the CF is, and all the taken-out-of-context horror stories have stopped.

I know the majority of this thread is about Veteran's Day, therefore the American Forces, but for the reast of the world and especially the Commonwealth, Rememberance Day carries as much if not more meaning and it's nice to see soldiers of all nations, for a few days per year at least, receive thank-yous from their fellow citizens who benifit each and every day from the work of those currently serving and all those who have served before.

From WWI on, we Americans have fought along side many nations. Veterans day, though an American holiday, is a day to remember all those brave enough to fight and make sacrifices so that others may live free. All sacrificed some, some sacrificed all. Those people, there love for freedom, and their sacrifice must never be forgotten, regardless of whether they were French, British, Canadian, American, or what ever nationality they were, freedom was intended for all, and Veterans day should be a day to remember them all.

Yeah, but my point was in the Commonwealth it's recognised as Rememberance Day, as stated in the full text you quoted a piece from

The manner in which it is recognised is also quite different. Where American television is full of "Crazy Pete's Veteran's day washing machine Sale" ads, Rememberance day is a somber event.

Yeah I wanted to go when I first joined, and even after i was in for a while, but then something else came along that really peaked my interest: scouts (infantry). Unfortunatly they were not looking for someone of my expertise, or rank for that matter.

but im no longer in
I got a chapter 14-12b

But its okay, goin back in in 2004.

CANT KEEP ME OUT!!!

you should see my field records, impressive
