Any Sevens in Minnesota?

Hey people,

I was browsing the old posts on this board, and ran across a few posts from MN.

I am in Burnsville, MN, just south of the Twin Cities. It would be nice to find other local people around here, who maybe know local shops and stores I can take a peek at.

I just picked up my first 7, an 84 GSL with a crazy bodykit and only 40k miles!

Well, I suppose I will sit back, and see if anybody replies.....

i live in minnesota,

wayzata, 25 minutes west of the minneapolis.

as for good shops, there is rx7 heaven, i have heard good and bad things.
Morries Mazda (I work here) has two guys that are good with rotarys, one of them changed a engine on a third gen in a single day.

Thats saying something if you know how horribly complicated a 3rd gen setup is.

Don't you mean up to New Briten matt?

As for there is rx7 heaven, only buy used parts from them as nessessary. They are overpriced, but it is local so little time is wasted chasing around looking in junkyards instead. It is well known not to have them touch your car.

Hey neighbor! I'm in Lakeville working on my 83 turbo project.

I totaly agree with everyone else with what they said about Rx7heaven. PITA place but for some reason I find myself going there for that one little piece that every other junk yard doesn't have.

They aren't that bad. I would never let them touch my car, and would tell the same to anyone. Just use them to buy used parts when you don't have time to track the best priced part over the web. And when you add in shipping and time waiting through web purchases, its roughly the same usually.

Thats true! But most people keep Rx-7's garaged come winter. This winter is a exception, I drove my FB till late december! This is the least snowest winter I ever incounted since ever! There is still bare ground here in fact, all my cars are staying so clean this winter! THANK YOU EL NINO!!!

It's funny, I was just talking about this with a buddy. If my Fb was running I bet I'd be driving it right now. Last week was kind of a bitch though, snowed 1/2 inch and those damn plow tucks layed down a inch of salt/sand.

I KNOW! Stupid plow drivers have a major surplus of salt and graval this year and put out as much as there is snow when there is the slightest trace..a 1/2inch of salt for every flake a snow. There is no need for it when it hasn't reached 32F for about 1-1/2weeks! Just plow it off and the sun will do the rest. I personally think that every year they put out more and more each winter, regardless of the need for it. There has to be some kind of closed door dealing with MnDot and the salt and gravel companies.

It doesn't help that they switched to a new kind of salt this year. The stuff is like a dust storm on the freeway and it sticks to your car like glue.

Just peeked at the Nrx7club.com site..

So, who is actually a member?

And, is there any good reason to spend $25 to join, aside of the fact that this Jim guy will be able to get 4-5 free car washes with that money?

I'm definately interested in a local club, the get togethers, cruises, activities and whatnot.....I'd just like to hear from someone to see if it's worth that investment to join.......

Oh and.....as silly as it is......I bought the rex as a daily driver.....and yes, I am crazy.

A few years back I bought a 1971 MGB convertible, with no top, and 2 sets of Yokohama cheater slicks, and I drove that thing sideways all day long in the snow. Yes, the potential for disaster is great, but the potential for fun is so much greater!

So, am I the only one in MN with my Rx-7 on the road this time of year?

Of course not! I drive my FB EVERY day! In fact, I can't stop driving it. I drive it to work down in Golden Valley, and to school at the U of M. It always starts right away, even in the extreme cold. In fact, it starts better than my VW Jetta I used to have. I think i'm the only Red FB in the metro area, so you can't miss me.

I am a member of northstar rotaries.

I joined when I met part of the club at JJhill days in wayzata.

I met jim, hes a nice guy.

I think we have like 50 members. The dealer that I work at, morries mazda, is affiliated with the club and Is giving discounted rates to new buyers of rx-8s.

at least thats what jim told me, I never looked into it.

Do you have any full pictures of the car?

You're crazy for driving that sucker in the salty MN winter. I guess you already found out they get loose easily
