First check the 2 cooling hoses that connect to the heater core on the engine ba side of the firewall. If no leaks are found there, you need to look inside and check the heater core vavle and the heater core. If the heater core is bad, i do believe you need to pull the dash.

If you don't need heat, pull the 2 hoses off at the firewall and splice them with a short piece of pipe, emt conduit should work, and some clamps. That will get you by until you can pull the core. DO NOT let your baby overheat.

trochiod is right i had the same problem and i dont have the time to pull the dash. i just pulled the heater from the core that is nearest the driver side and pulled it to the return on the passenger side where it runs to the radiator and its going to like that for awhile until i move out to cali in a few months and when i do my resto project on it! but yeah just pull it and stick it and your good to go!!!
