Another TII into a Series 2 swap.......
Hi all, been floating round on here a while popping up every now and again just silently learning so I don't look like a complete halfwit when I finally do something creative. So I've had my S2 for around 3 years, love it to death and have had plenty of fun with the 12A all stock apart from decent headers and stainless system...
I wasn't in a particular rush to carry out any major surgery as the 12A is sweet as a nut but an S4 lump cropped up at a price I couldn't miss so off I went and collected it from the lock up it was hidden in.
It feels strong and from what I can see through the exhaust ports looks to be in good condition so fingers crossed.
First things first lets get the 12A out...
And got the 13B on the bench...
And set to work getting shot of what I didn't want. We are lucky here in the UK in that a pre '86 rotary only requires a visual emissions test regardless of engine so all the rats nest can be binned.
Also to go was the stock turbo and S4 inlet gear and on went a 12AT front cover and RX4 sump with 12A pickup...
As you are probably aware, as we drive on the left there is fouling issues with the steering box so was lucky to be offered this HKS manifold with Turbonetics turbo. This has been on another S2 and made good power with minimal lag so at least i know it is proven.
Couldn't resist a test fit...
On the other end, and from the same car that supplied me the turbo is a Exedy (I think) flywheel with a healthy clutch thrown in so that with the oblicatory EGi counterweight is now in place...
ALSO off of the other S2 (he's now going for big power with it so loads of surplus goodies for me!) is a full 3" stainless system and Microtech LT-8.
And thats it so far, I have an S5 box ready just got to get creative with the mount, and have a stock TII oil cooler ready too so as soon as I get a minute of spare time I can get it together and get it in, then the fun begins. My fuel tank is shot so will probably just go with a 10 gallon alloy cell with brand new lines with a surge tank (also from the other S2 in question!). I have a good friend who builds rally car wiring looms so will be talking to him nicely about that side of things and so it goes on-loads to do but getting there slowly.
Please if anyone can spot any blaringly obvious mistakes I am making come forward and comment-I know you've seen this swap done to death but one more can't hurt!
I'll update when any major progress has been made.

Cheers dude,
Just got an intercooler, it's a bit overkill but nevermind it makes me smile. I'm want to mount it in front of the front beam with a bit poking out through the hole in the standard front fender so there is a hint of what is going on underneath.
So here it is...
And here is the general idea of how it will sit although further back and a smidge higher...
Piping it will be fun but I've never been one to make my life easy and I wanna do something a bit different.

Can I have some input on my intercooler/radiator positioning guys, as you can see from the picture in an earlier post I mocked up a position for the IC with the rad just sat behind it. Before I commit to having mounts altered on the IC and brackets fabricated for the rad am I going to suffer from bad heat soak to the point where it would effect intake temperatures when moving? The rad won't be sat right on the IC as shown but stood off about 1", thats all I have clearancewise for the bottom hose. If the general concensus is that it wil suffer then I can put rad back in stock position and locate the IC in front of the front beam instead similar to the picture at beginning of thread.

If you mount the radiator in the stock position, you will have plenty of space for the intercooler in front, where heatsoak will not be a real problem.

Okay thanks for that-I had a hunch that may be the case.

Ok so I've collected the majority of stuff I need for the fuel system, so far I have...
Swirl Pot
Solid S3 tank (wheel well will be removed and infilled with ally sheet)
Bosch 044
Inline high pressure filter
Inline Low pressure filter
Couple of meters of high pressure fuel hose and fuel hose clips
The one thing eluding me is a low pressure pump-would the stock pump flow enough to supply the swirl pot?

The low pressure pump should flow enough to meet the hp demand of the engine. Otherwise the fuel level in the surge tank will drop under WOT. I can dig up a photo if you want to see how the pumps and surge tank all fit under there.
