Another fuel pump prob. Damn the timing

Quick question. One of my bartenders is having the same fuel pump issue as me. Well, he has a little more time to get to fixing it than I do so now he had a question for me. The two elec. wires that are running to the pump, are they just connected to the pump by a fastener or is it something that needs to be cut. If I had my car with me I would check it but I am at work. He was getting ready to cut but had him hold off. Thanks for the help.

Stock pump on an FB has the wires sealed where they come out of the pump, and there is a connector inside the car. It's about 18" away from the pump.
Most just cut the wires, and wire in the replacement.

The connector that supplies power to the pump is under the driverside storage bin.
