i stand corrected, sorry bout that. I knew the 1st gen of sho's had a v6 but i didn't know that they put a v8 them, but they did in the last generation of sho's. I wouldn't mind having a v8 sho, pull off the sho badges and you get yourself one hell of a sleeper, add a little boost or some juice and then......

What exactly is the point of doing this if it only give like 2 hp? Does it some how improve instantanious acceleration or something??

GAH, NO TALKING ABOUT SHO'S HERE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE.
i drive one every day. it spanks 7's (except 3rd gens and directfreak's car) and can carry 3 friend with a trunk full of crap. yep, that SHO engine that has the capability to rev over 8k and make 400lb-ft on stock internals, and has no real reliability problems really is crap. i'm disappointed in you guys, being a club that drives cars with wrongfully assigned history for bad reliability, i figured you'd be sympathetic to the SHO, the piston equivalent. edit: and i'm talking about the v6's, the 8's are just as awesome, AFTER welding the cams, that was a glaring problem they had, and a law suit has been filed against ford (no seriously) involving everyone owning a 3rd gen SHO. |

I mean you can grab a 3.8 fan out of an older one and there are lot more of the older ones in the junkyard then 96s. |

Thanks ( its on the 2nd page verry bottom) I think I'll hook up the low speed to a 180* thermostat switch and the high setting to my AC on switch. I seriously doubt I'll have any cooling issues with the fans high setting. It pushes some serious air. |

True that. In my personal experience, to those who are "rev happy" on the street, upgrding to E-fan will extend the life of your water pump. Also, with the E-Fan, you can drag your car without the alternator/water pump belt. |
I did it to get a more efficient cooling system. Didn't notice any accel differences. Faster warmups and more controllable operating range. It's hooked into my ECU.
I am using the high setting on my taurus fan with a s4 alt. 60amps, I think. 30amp relay. No problems so far, I'll have to check and see if it's getting hot... |

Gotta bump this up to ask... Is there a way to mount a temperature switch to this? I don't want to have to flip it on manually.

i know HKS makes a fan controller for electric fans. pretty fancy unit that tells your all sorts of info and can control your fan speed by programmed temps or manually, but its like $180. there are cheaper alternatives but i cant find one right now...

Sorry for reviving a dead thread but I wanted to get a clear answer in the same thread that raised the question. Due to the nice fitment I wanted to source a brand new '96 Taurus electric fan (it's not worth trusting a junkyard fan, IMHO). My supplier says there are two engine configs in '96 but they are both the same part number. Okay, that's good, but he tells me there are two fan assemblies listed for each...driver's side and passenger side. I need to know which is the right one before I place the order and the supplier can only tell me what is on his computer screen (nothing). Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Those jellybean taurus fans might draw crazy current, but the earlier body style had the 3.0 and 3.8 that folks have mentioned. An early-style 3.8 fan works great, is 2-speed, and runs with less current draw.
