another custom dual headlight conversion?

ya just like everyone who refuses to buy from cp if they even exist anymore? im making my own custom dual custom headlight assembley i already know how im going to do it, and it wont be flush mount or even use the heavy stock parts, other than maybe the cover. so when its down it looks completely stock... but thats not what this is about.

people are saying that paying 250 extra for bulbs and stuff from cp was a rippoff but if this is the only other site you can order from it ends up being about that much anyways 58$$ american each? thats not per pair unless im confused,,,

http://www.rallylights.com/hella/90mm_modules.asp

is there any other lights i can use, what have you guys done(people who have made thier own kits,) and steve84gsTII(sp) i remember you used rectangle ones, theyre kinda cool, how much were they, would you recomend them,,, i reallly want round just my preferance, but if they cost as much as i think...

thanks guys

Paul

CP does not use the hella 90mm they used el cheapo lights. I was the one who broke the story about thier scam.
Yes they are a hella light in thier kit but not a quality main light.

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ht=flush+light <- busted

The lights they use in thier kit -> http://www.autobarn.net/helopperdriv1.html

On a good note, use the Hella 90mm ones, they would be the best bet for a custom kit.

I used a pair of the cheapo Mid Tenn Miata rectangle lights out of neccesity. There just isnt enough room in there for 2 Hella 90MM projectors. They only serve as high-beam "flood" lights and I rarely use them.
My low-beam,"99% of the time" lights, are the street legal Hella projectors.
I heard recently that Mid Tenn Miata suspended sales of their light kits,I wouldnt doubt if this was because of the cheap, non DOT legal lights that came with the kit.

DONT FOR A SECOND use something like these for your main lights. At the very least do what I did and get some DOT legal projector pods for your lowbeams.....

ya i guess i will, so its 60$$ per light though,, i was gonna do that anyways, but now the project will be postponed till i get more money,
ooh nice did you use the edgiing from the sunroof for the edge of the plexiglass? thats great,

i think i will just make a kit using fc style rectangle, or whichever the smallest generic rectangle bulbs with high and low beam... and then re make the kit with hella 90mm allong with 2 elcheapo high beams (round) when ihave some extra cash..
thanks guys,,

Paul

That edging is how the MTM kit mounts the lids.Theres a rubber tube attached to the bottom of the edge trim. There are aluminum stakes that are shaped like an L, that are bolted to the car.The horizontal section slips into the rubber tube and holds the covers at each corner. Its a pretty simple, clean setup that easy to undo for cleaning.
