Question Another clutch Q

I recently had a thread going, where I thought that something was amiss with my clutch hydraulics. Well, after trying literally everthing I could do to get the clutch to work, I still can't get the clutch to disengage. Luckily the TII transmission has a pretty nice access panel on the bottom of the transmission. So anyway, I put the car on jack stands, opened the access panel, and used a stick to hold the clutch pedal to the floor. I got under the car, and looked at the clutch and flywheel through the access panel. The hydraulics are definately working, because there was almost an 1/8" space between the clutch disc and the flywheel. But the clutch disc seems to be still stuck against the pressure plate, so its still not fully disengaged.

I'm using the Spec stage II kevlar faced clutch disc. Could I have installed the disc backwards? Why is it still holding to the pressure plate? I'm at a loss right now, and its pissing me off because the siren's call of boost is driving me mad. This is the only holding me back from getting the beast on the road.

Maybe the clutch disk wasn't aligned correctly?

Yes you MUST use a clutch alignment tool when installing ANY clutch. If you don't it will wear prematurely and/or have the same problems you mentioned above.

you could have damaged the shaft so teh clutch disk can't move properly if you didn't use the alignment tool. and yea putting it in backwards would do that but it'd be hard to put on if it was backwards.

Well, good news... I pulled the tranny, and yup the disc was backwards. I do remember the the pressure plate being really hard to get on. It's all back together, and works fine now.

I don't see how you could even get the tranny and engine to mesh if you didn't have the clutch alignment tool. Its an absolute must for sure.
