Low on coolant? Maybe the radiator cap needs changed? Maybe the sensor is going bad. There are a lot of reasons. You'll have to become a tad bit more specific as to what is happening with it other than "Randomly come on" if you are wanting a specific answer.

Sounds like a bubble in the cooling system. Take the radiator cap off, cold engine, start and run until it is up to operating temp and see it it will take a little more coolant mix. If not, check the wiring, starting at the sensor.
