Alternator Question

Okay, I have an S3 alternator that I am rebuilding. I have it pretty much broken down, I haver the Stator frame out, and the voltage regulator is out. So I have the rear of the alternator ready to be rebuilt. However, I have a new pulley that I want to put on. I cant get the nut off of the old pulley, I dont know of any way to hold the pulley still without damaging it, I dont want to put any part of the shaft in a vice for fear of destroying it.... Will our pulleys work on the GM alternator? Because I can get one for 15 dollars and it might save me the hassle of dealing with this old oxidized hunk of crap....

Got an air impact? I needed one to get the pulley off my FD's alternator to swap to the underdrive setup.

Use an oil filter wrench around the pulley and hit the nut with the impact and HOLD ON!

Tried, and didnt work, thats why I am posting here.... I let it soak in penetrating oil for a day or two and nothing.... It is so oxidized/rusted I think it has become one piece. I think I will just go ahead and do the GM conversion...

I used one of the adjustable oil filter wrenches with the rubber holder... worked good for me. Hold it TIGHT.
