One of the first things that I had to replace on my car was the alternator. Got it from either Autozone or Orielly's and come to find out that the one they sold me is a replacement model. WELL the pulley is too steep and narrow for the supplied (purchased) belt and it was slipping up and down on the pulley. hence it twisted around to where it was ready to slip off...caught it just in time due to a non-normal noise. I know, I should have saved the old alternator, but I bought that like 1.5 years ago and have been slowly working on the 7.

Is there a way to buy just a different pulley?

 

The ones they sell at auto stores are re-manufactures OEM models. Take it back and have them swap it out. Also post some pics of the problem.

Belt part # is 7320 as well.

If nothing else works, let me know and I've got a spare stock Alternator pulley I could mail you.

 

Well, just got home via Oriellys and my sisters house (for a damn good dinner and The Godfather II) and swapped out the belt. The one I had purchased a while back was like #15320 from Autozone. I just so happened to buy the one you mentioned and it was a tad bit smaller, hence, I didn't need to tighten it at the bitter end of the channel. I think the one from Autozone was too long and didn't couldn't tighten down enough.
